The World Baseball Classic started in 2006. Taking place in the month of March when MLB teams are in the middle of their spring training, many teams release their players to let them compete in this exciting event. This is the 5th time the tournament has been held. Japan has won it twice, and the USA & Dominican Republic have each won it once.
